DIPNET Ribotype DataBase

The DIPNET ribotype database currently contains 397 profiles. This includes profiles for all 86 reference strains as designated by EWLGD (European Laboratory Working Group on Diphtheria) and published by Grimont et al. (Research in Microbiology 155 (2004) 162-166). The standard methodology used to generate these profiles is described in this DIPNET SOP which details the protocol for Corynebacterium diphtheriae ribotyping.

Band Matching Algorithm

The DICE Coefficient is used to measure the similarity of the uploaded molecular weights and bands of the ribotype profiles. Parameters of 0.5% for band optimisation and 1.2% for tolerance have been shown to be optimal (De Zoysa , Thesis publication).
